Lisbon International Airport has two terminals – Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The Departures Terminal operates both in the initial terminal, which was opened in 1942 and the one which was constructed in 2007 as the temporary solution to the increased passengers' traffic until the new airport will be built in Alcochete.
Both Terminals have service facilities and shops available. As the Terminal 1 is the main terminal managing international flights, it has a more developed infrastructure and more convenient structure: it has two check-in halls, that contain 81 check-in desks in total. The Departures Terminal operated in Terminal 1 consists of 29 gates, 7 of which are used by the non-Schengen destinations.
As Terminal 2 is providing departures only, there is no car-park available. Moreover, Terminal 2 controls domestic flights only, while Terminal 1 handles international flights. Terminal 2 has 21 check-in desks and only 15 departure gates. The services and shops available there are also limited due to the lower passengers traffic.
