Lisbon Metro Guide Map & Lines & Prices
Opened in December 1959, the Lisbon metro is the quickest and reliable was of transportation across the city. The metro consists of four lines, covering 43.2 kilometers from the city. It has 55 stations: 18 stations (14 kilometers) of the Blue Line/Linha Azul, 13 stations (11 kilometers) of the Yellow Line/ Linha Amarela, 13 stations (9 kilometers) of the Green Line/ Linha Verde and 12 stations (11.5 kilometers) of the Red Line/ Linha Vermelha.
The green metro line connects two areas: Baixa and the train station Cascais. The red metro line provides the connection between Expo Park and the airport. The yellow and blue lines go through the main streets and are less attractive to tourists.
Hours of operation begin at 06:30 and end at 01:00 and trains are coming every 6- minutes.
Tickets may be purchased from the metro station directly, from either the ticket office or the ticket machine. However, that would be much less time-consuming to take the tickets from the tickets machine. Together with the very 1st ticket, the ‘Viva Viagrem' card shall be purchased, that will cost only 0.50 euros and all tickets will be transferred to that card afterward. Notably, this card may be also used for train and ferry service around Lisbon, however, the fess will vary. The fee for the single metro ride is 1.45 euros, the 14 hours unlimited ticket costs 6.15 euros.
